Alumni Updates
Lloyd (’74) & Ellen Boone
Lloyd and Ellen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past year and had the privilege of going on two cruises. Congratulations! Then in June, Lloyd and Ellen became Coordinators of Pastoral Care at Grace Villa in Hamilton, Ontario. They spend approximately 15 hours a week at the care facility conducting services and activities and having one-on-one visits with the residents. The couple resides in Stoney Creek, Ontario, where they are also active in serving their church, Mountain Citadel of the Salvation Army.
Ken (’93) & Robin Jewett
Since his graduation from Kingswood, Ken has served as a pastor in churches in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Indiana, Michigan, and Tennessee. His wife, Robin, who is a physician assistant, has practiced in several specialties and has taught at both Trevecca Nazarene University and Gardner Webb University in their Physician Assistant programs. In 2012, the couple adopted their son, Palmer (’04), and daughter, Adeline (’06), from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Through their children’s adoption, God gave Ken and Robin a passion to see God’s kingdom grow in Africa, and this past year they were appointed by Global Partners as long-term missionaries to Ghana, Africa. Currently, Ken and Robin are raising their missionary support so that they can train and mentor English and French speaking pastors. Robin also will be providing medical care to Muslim women in the city of Tamale, Ghana, and to the under-served in northern Ghana. Cyril (C.Y.) & Keitha (Slack ‘02) Ogbogu
For the past five years, Keitha has been serving as a pastor at Hampton Free Methodist Church in Saskatoon, SK. In that time the church has relocated from an industrial park to a community neighbourhood. In 2012, she married C.Y., who is her “perfect match.”
Matthew (’05) & Laura (Barbour ’06) Palmer
Congratulations to Matt and Laura on the birth of their 4th child. Eliza Hope was born on October 12, weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces. She has two brothers and one sister, named Malachi, Jack, and Charlotte. The family resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where Matt serves as the Pastor of Youth and Worship Arts at Journey Wesleyan Church.
Jonathan (’07) & Tanya (Campbell ’06) Nace
Congratulations to Jonathan and Tanya on the birth of their son, Chandler Irwin. Deciding he couldn’t miss Christmas, Chandler was born on December 24, weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Chandler means ‘light bearer for the king’ and Irwin is Tanya’s father’s name – “Someone who truly brings people to the King,” said Tanya. “It is our prayer that Chandler’s life will be a light to guide others to Jesus.”
Jonathan is the owner and guide at Breaking Ground Adventures, an outdoor adventure company that provides guided hiking and backpacking adventures and retreats for renewing the heart and gaining confidence and excitement about the future. Tanya serves as the Director of Mobilzation for TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission). The family lives in Maryville, Tennessee.
Matthew & Nicole (Kimmerly ‘08) Mawer
Matt and Nicole were married July 26, 2014, and took their honeymoon in Mexico. Matt is a Financial Advisor at Bridge to Wealth and at Freedom 55 Financial. Nicole is a Primary and Junior Teacher with the Limestone District School Board. The couple resides in Belleville, Ontario.
Jonathan Bragdon (’11)
Last fall, Jonathan moved from Fredericton, New Brunswick, to Ottawa, Ontario, to pursue career and ministries opportunities in the large capital city. Currently working as a Barista at Starbucks, Jonathan attends and volunteers at The Bridge – Kanata Wesleyan Church.
Ever since Jonathan first served as a summer camp counsellor in 2009, he has been involved with Hephzibah Ministries in Macon, Georgia. He volunteers every year since 2011 at the Macon Mud Run, a five kilometre mud and obstacle event that raises funds for Hephzibah Ministries. In April, he will go down once again to Macon to help build and prepare for their 3rd annual run.
Ben & Amber (Kingsolver ‘14) Fessette
Ben and Amber were married on July 26 at the Turnpike Wesleyan Church in Plattsburgh, New York, where Amber served as a ministry intern this past semester. Both Ben and Amber also work at KFC, and the couple lives in Cadyville, New York.
Alumni Working Together
Tom Neary (’08) is the pastor of middle school youth at The Wesleyan Church of Hamburg (New York). He serves with Justin Callicutt (’14) who is pastor of high school students. This semester 4th year student Jared Welborn has joined them as he does his internship experience at the church.

Shawn Fisher (’13), who teaches English in China, met up with Isaac Pang (’14) when he visited Hong Kong in February.
